With hundreds of books on Photoshop each trying to grab your attention the writers and publishers have several ways of making you pick theirs. With over a thousand pages and a two inch thick spine you wont miss this one on the Photoshop section of the bookshop! But size doesnt always matter! Having read through several areas I could have reduced the copy by at least half and still maintained the chatty American style, along with the essential Photoshop advice. Cut out the chattiness and this book could have easily have been rounded up in 200 or so pages. As it is, its too heavy to hold. Its also one of those books that has little visual appeal not exactly what you want when working with Photoshop.
Theres a great section on colour management and some good techniques using selection tools, layers and the clone tool. Basically everythings covered you just have to work harder even when trying to look up stuff in the 36 page, two column index yes 36 pages! Its all over the top! When you find the advice, its all good stuff and a CD is provided with loads more material including 300 pages of definitions and a stack of fonts and clip art.
