Photo Journalism is not a favourite area of photography for me, so I wouldn't normally be picking this one up in the book shop. As a reviewer though I can appreciate the quality for those of you who find this category interesting. It's up to RotoVision's usual high production values - excellent quality paper, superb repro and clean design. The text is small, so those with less than perfect eyesight may struggle on the finer captions. As is becoming typical from Terry Hope's books the thoroughness of detail is stunning. You may have seen the pictures in the press, which are normally used to illustrate the news stories - sometimes chilling, sometimes cheerful. Here the captions tell the truth about the picture and the situation the photographer was in, which is often as interesting as the original story they illustrated.
You'll find out all about how the picture was taken and the thinking behind each image, there are often printing details and lots of excellent advice to help you understand the motive and execution of each image. Excellent book well worth a look.
