If you are new to photography and want to learn about shooting better portraits then this book could be a useful tool for you.
The chapters are easy to follow and written in an order prefect for understanding portraiture. Some of the text can be a little repetitive but if you're new to the subject, having something repeated is not necessarily a bad thing.
There are plenty of images showing a variety of portraits and each image has it's own caption which tells you how and what the images were taken on.
A nice touch are the assignments you find at the end of each chapter which encourage you to go out and test what you've learnt. You can even get feedback on-line after.
Overall it's a good, educational book for a beginner.
