Most books on portraiture are written by photographers looking at how to photograph other people. This one is different. It's written and mostly illustrated by Natalie Dybisz who goes by the name of Miss Aniela and is well know in the online world for her incredible self portrait photography. Her photos excel on all levels.
The book takes the subject of self portraits and splits it into chapters covering the history of self portraiture, equipment needed, shooting techniques and then into processing the results. We are then presented with eight stunning profiles of self portrait artist so you get an insight into their photography and technique.
The final chapter is a brief overview of getting your work noticed.
If self portraits is something you want to do and need some inspiration you won't go far wrong with this book.
There are plenty of great pictures, some sound ideas and advice, plus the usual Ilex press printing and design qualities. Overall a well worth book to add to your collection. Only one thing missing is a mention of ePHOTOzine in the area that suggests displaying photos on line!
