Widely acknowledged as a master of the darkroom, Steve Macleod takes us through a superb visual journey of black and white. I've seen many technique books over the years, but non to match the sheer quality and advice provided by this. The chapters take you logically through the darkroom set up, to choosing the right film, exposure, processing chemicals and paper and then into the nitty gritty of how to print well, using pre/post flashing, dodging and burning, toning, lith papers, printing borders and much more. It's superbly designed and has lots of scribbled notes and sketches by the author which give it a rough, but real note book feel. Although the photos used as examples are way beyond the capability of most darkroom users you can at least be inspired and have something to aim for.
Definitely a must for any black & white darkroom user.
