The Rules Of Photography And When To Break Them is a very informative book that challenges the general rules of photography.
The book starts off by going through some basic photography techniques, from which type of camera to choose through to how to get the best exposure, before going into the rules and how they can be broken to create some great photos.
This book is great because it not only tells you how to take great photos using the rules, but also covers how to break the rule and still get great results, proving that great photography is possible with or without the traditional rules.
A great example of this is high ISO. Pretty much all the rules state that high ISO is to be avoided where possible because high noise levels can ruin an image. But this innovative book shows us that high ISO can be used as an effect and can look good in certain types of photo, especially vintage style portraits and close ups.
This book is great for beginners because it covers all the basics before launching into the rules, and how they can still be broken to produce great shots. It is also great for those who have been sticklers or the rules and are looking to get a little more experimental with their photography. It is full of stunning images that illustrate beautifully the techniques discussed.
