Views Across The Landscape: An Essential Guide To Landscape Photography is a book covering all things landscape.
The book begins by looking at equipment, and how the type of camera your use and number of megapixels could have an impact on your photos. It then moves on to look at accessories, including tripods, lenses and filters. It looks at the difference between zoom and prime lenses, before moving on to filters and different filter systems.
Next to book looks at techniques, including file formats, aperture and shutter speeds and understanding histograms as a starting point. Lighting of the landscape is also looked at in a dedicated chapter, as this is a key part in landscape photography. Everything is covered from the time of day and time of year that light is best to highlights and shadows in your images.
Composition and design of the photos is looked at, and also covered is taking a closer look at the landscape, and capturing macro images that still tell a story about the area you are in. Finally, there is quite a lengthy chapter on locations, and what will work well in different environments, like urban, rural and waterfalls and rivers.
The book is nicely designed, with full page photos of author Peter Watson's stunning images. Each photo shown also has exposure information and Peter explains how and why he takes each shot, making it a valuable read for anyone who is looking to improve their landscape photography.
