How to Cheat in Photoshop CS4: The art of creating photorealistic montages

This book will tell you how to create or improve your photographs and also give you some creative ideas you wont have even thought about. The step-by-step guides are easy to follow and compact and are illustrated well with start-to-finish images of how the photographs looked before and after the work was completed. The language is easy to follow and if you want even more advice you can look at the tutorial DVD which comes with the book. If you want to try some new tricks or just brush-u...

Lensbaby: Bending your perspective opens your eyes to the wide world of Lensbaby lenses, and introduces you to new tips and techniques if you have already discovered Lensbabies. Light and Lens: Photography in the Digital Age

Light and Lens takes you through an educational photographic journey. The author writes with obvious in depth knowledge about the various aspects of photography with the intention of helping you understand the visualisation of the art rather then just providing a how to book. It touches on history and has a section of thought provoking questions with answers. Every aspect from exposure to printing is covered, and there are some really clear diagrams to help you get your head around topics such a...

Paint Shop Pro 8: The Guide to Creating Professional Images

A guide to one of the best selling digital image editing programs in the world. The title is a little misleading as the images used to illustrate the guide are not exactly professional standard, but the information is good so we'll let the author off for that. The chapters are colour coded and there are plenty of bite sized tips presented throughout. It should help make you more competent with the program, but visually it's not that exciting.

Panoramic Photography: From Composition and Exposure to Final Exhibition

A book by French author, Arnaud Frich, has been translated into English by Alan Greene to bring us a fascinating guide to panoramic photography. This book not only explains how to shoot panoramic photos with a wide variety of equipment, but it also takes us through processing images explaining how to use software to stitch together the individual frames and then on to printing and mounting for display. I've not seen a book so in-depth on the subject before, but more to the point the photos used ...

Photography Foundations for Art and Design

This book, written by the senior lecturer in photography at Australia's Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, is a superb book to use when you want to learn about photography. Each chapter explains what it's going to cover in aims and objectives panels and then takes you through the section with several activities and assignments to fire your enthusiasm. The only down side if working alone is there's no one to judge your work but it's still enough to get you shooting things you may never have...

Photoshop CS3 Essential Skills

A book bundled with 8 hours of DVD movies written by two Photoshop experts, sound promising. And indeed it is. After years of badly designed software manuals we are now starting to see books come to life, and we'd put this on a pedestal above the best. Superb design, really clear illustrations, great photography and clean navigation. Mark's put his lecturing skills into practice to deliver a solid structure so you can't fail to find the area of Photoshop you're struggling with and then get the ...

Printing with Adobe Photoshop CS4

Printing with Photoshop does exactly what it says on the tin. It teaches you how to create better print-outs with the help of Adobe Photoshop CS4. The book is split into easy-to-read chapters that cover everything from shooting essentials and file processing, to colour management and printing advice. Everything is explained clearly and the advice given is extremely useful and easily absorbed. Colourful images are both nice to look at and useful for emphasising points made in the text, t...

Studio Photography 2nd edition Essential Skills

This paper back book in Focal Press' handy 19x24.5cm format is part of the Essential Skills series which has a school text book approach so it won't suit those who prefer an armchair read. This is a get up and do it book. Each chapter has a section with information on particular aspects of studio photography along with several useful assignments to help you practice and grasp the subject. Then at the end there's a revision bit which checks your understanding of the subject. The chapters cover ba...
