Theme: Spring Landscapes
Judge's Write Up
May's junior competition entries were a little disappointing this time, we asked for Spring Landscapes and only a few juniors in the under 19's provided the goods. The judges were looking for daffodils, lambs, bluebells, young buds on trees with a landscape in the background. There is no winner in the under 16's, but we know that June's competition 'Urban Landscapes' will give you plenty to shoot.
The 16-19's winner is.......Sunset by Peniel Heugh by Calum Macnab
Calum's photo captures a gorgeous view with great depth of field and some foreground interest, both of which are so important in a good landscape photograph. The mist adds a further dimensions to it, conveying distance, heat and humidity. The latter two are rather untypical of spring - yet the rapeseed field in the middle ground of the photo clearly identifies it as being late spring. The colours of the photo make it further stand out: there is a gorgeous range of reds, greens and yellows - so well done Calum.
So lets get out in the city or town and capture those Urban Landscapes and show us what you can do!
Calum wins four Media West DVD's with a combined value of £80, courtesy of our friends at Firstcall Photographic.
