Judges Writeup
Another well received competition theme with a good level of entries from our world of photographers capturing our world through their eyes. It was an enlightening job looking at the scenic views. Thanks to all who entered but even though many were short-listed only six could win
And the winner is javam. His shot titled Ebb & Flow sums up the theme perfectly. A busy city of Tokyo taken using a slow shutter speed at night. One person stands still at Shibuya junction as everyone else is recorded as blurred streaks. The image sums up busy city life very well. Congratulations.
Second place goes to milouvision who's atmospheric river view from Waterloo Bridge shows the towering architecture of the city of London in the distance. The winter morning sun adds a scattering of light and shade.
begemot's humorous take on the theme features a panda dressed person advertising a local buffet service. The background looks the least likely location for a restaurant or passing traffic. Almost verging on surreal and a provides a refreshing slant on the uploads.
Fourth place is taken by an almost monochromatic image by Aliperti. We love the single figure shadowed in size by the dominating silhouetted poles, that give an brief indication of nearby village life.
Cor's Mill- Damme near Bruges in Belgium has a style of treatment that he's applied to several of his photos in the ePHOTOzine gallery. This one is exceptional and reminds us of a style of painting by Turner. The textured treatment really emphasises the shapes and light. The photo came fifth.
Final our sixth winner is Jillangill for her shot of the Los Angeles skyline and silhouetted figures. The panoramic treatment works well for this subject and the image gives a sense of freedom from the bustle of city life.
Well done everyone. We hope you enter our latest competition.
