We had over 1000 entries for this one ranging from holiday snaps to professional level compositions, covering all aspects of seaside photography. We decided to give first place to lawrenceburrow for his portrayal of what is considered a typical English summer holiday - cold and wet. The conversion to black & white and processing treatment enhances this memory that most of us have, at some stage in our lives, endured. A strong documentary style work that deserves recognition.

In second place we chose Hmarie's beach scene. We like the placement of the foreground sand castles almost masking the distant surfer. The viewpoint is well considered and typifies an active day at the seaside.
