10,000 first prize for photography at National Open Art Competition
For the third year running, the National Open Art Competition has opened its doors wide to photographers, and is calling for photographers to enter its now well-recognised and respected art competition. Since its inception 17 years ago the competition called principally for works such as paintings, drawings, and wall-hung installations. Now, thanks to its present chairman, Neil Lawson Baker, photography and computer generated art form part of the call for entries. A registered charity whose mission statement is to support and nurture artists from all walks of life, whether full-time, part-time, young or more mature, has just clinched another generous sponsorship agreement this time for a 10,000 first prize ONLY for photography. This year's judges are Michael Hoppen from the Hoppen Gallery and member of Tate Modern's photographic committee, the outspoken art critic Brian Sewell, and the hugely respected artist Professor Rae. With an entry fee of only 20 per work, and a maximum entry per artist/photographer of 6 works, this competition is pushing for photographers to enter and be more than just a constituent part. This year the National Open Art will have a total of 50,000 worth of prizes including the prizes for photography. Entry is simplicity itself and is done on-line: www.thenationalopenartcompetition.com
