It was the great theme this month that triggered a selection of fantastic images and a really varied shortlist. We've picked these based on subject activity which makes them come alive. The winning three pics were award to highly imaginative entries.

In first place, and winner of the Olympus E-510 DSLR single lens kit with a Zuiko 14-42mm lens, is Gary Booth with his colourful, razor sharp and perfectly timed puddle jumper. You can't get much more alive than this. Pics of kids are taking the awards all the way here as second place is also an action packed exposure featuring a cliched but really well executed leave hurling shot. What makes this work is Ian's placement of subject in the centre of the shot surrounded by a frame of blurred leaves. Classic!

Not leaving our digital creative geniuses out, third place goes to Noel Taylor for his amusing Electrickery for dummies 101 shot. Lots of Photoshop additions to create a fun play on the theme.
