"It has been a pleasure judging the entries in this Vanguard competition. The submissions not only showed a high level of photography to mirror the quality forum posts that populate ePHOTOzine, but they also demonstrated considerate and more thoughtful computer processing. It's great to see that our imaginations are being pushed to the limits as technology takes us further.

Leftfield thinking and image strength is required by judges to rescue your image from the sea of entries. I am happy to report that you made it a difficult task for me. "
David Clapp

1st - Tim Munsey - Battered Boat - Beautiful toning and great painterly sky, a riot of textures and tones. A strong black and white image that stands out above the others with character and simplicity. Excellent work.Tim wins a Vanguard Skyborne 51 and Outlawz Zoom 17Z.

2nd
- Barber Pics - Up, Up and Away! - Wonderful use of bokeh and soft composition, which indirectly tells a strong and perhaps unintentional narrative. The viewer feels the birds have been released by a caring elderly lady, portraying sentiment with tenderness. Very enjoyable. John wins a Vanguard Skyborne 51.

3rd - Morgs - Lift Off! - A strong and dynamic architectural image, that makes the most of the camera angle to launch the viewer towards the sky. Great tonal balance across the frame but above all, strong processing skills to match this striking composition. David wins a Vanguard Skyborne 48.

4th  -richshep - Fragile World - Wonderful use of this 360technique, with superb use of a fisheye and stitching software in unison. This spiky orb is topped off by making this an unusual and unavoidable self portrait. Contrasting clothes and great glasses. Very enjoyable. Richard wins a Vanguard Skyborne 48.

5th
  - Aleksy21 - Spellbinding abstract, with a strong graveyard feel thanks to the cross shape. So nice to see an image of this nature photographed without using a 10stop ND. Strong graphic silhouettes and soft colour palette make this stand out from the crowd. Aleksy  wins a Vanguard Skyborne 45.

6th - biker11 - Interface -Good use of telephoto to compress distance. The strong composition works well, with the line of trees giving it that something special. Competent and considerate processing make this a quality landscape, well done. Biker 11 wins a Vanguard Skyborne 45.
