Paint It! results
Well the jury is in and the paint has dried on last month's oil and watercolour based competition. We had a range of photos from the obvious to the bizarre and the creative, but the first prize goes to Claire Morgan for her excellent photo of a painter in silhouette. The different lighting sources, the shadows, and the colours painted a pretty picture in our eyes so Claire wins the fabulous collection of Corel Painter X, Paint Shop Pro XI, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X3 and Snapfire Plus. We'll send a bloke round with a wheelbarrow of your winning software.
In second place, winning copes of the sublime Corel Painter X and Paint Shop Pro XI was... Ian Rumney for his perfect picture of a VW, with rusty bumper, yet contrasting colours between the campervan and the ceiling. It was very close, but Ian just edged it.
There were then no fewer than five runners up prizes – but a curse on our foolish compo system that only shows two more runners up. So, winning a copy each of PSP XI were, Gareth, for his wildly creative take on painters block, Tim Atkinson for his twin-peaks style paint splatted chair in the countryside, Dave Lee, for implementing the painting by numbers idea best of all, Ron Harpham for the subtle colours in his cellar photo and finally, Lizzy for her frankly disturbing painted girl, representing a fear of dolls. Spooky!
Well done to everyone who won a prize or was shortlisted, there were some excellent photos in there. Now, it's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel like winning a Sony Alpha (to paraphrase REM). If you do too, head on over to this month's competition.
