Well, with a theme of paint we expected lots of colour, and vivid the results were too! The winner is regular competition entrant, Hermin Abramovitch, with an amazingly bright and colourful paint study. Second place goes to Sue Heaton's portrait. We liked the way the blue shirt contrasts with the sepia paintings. Third spot is taken up by Sally Jelbert. Her creative use of selective toning works really well here. Fourth place is Lee Beel's close up of a hand. Very strong and loads of impact but the ring lost it points as it tended to draw our eye away from the superb colour.
