Love at La Moulin Rouge by daviojohnWinning Image
daviojohn

We have 3 lucky winners for April who each win a Kodak HERO 7.1 Printer. In no particular order, here is what our guest judges at Kodak had to say: Love at la Moulin Rouge by daviojohn ( David Kinally)
"We love the energy and excitement created by the photo, which perfectly sums up Moulin Rouge." Loch Leven Sunset by Grant_Glendinning
"The simplicity of the photo just makes this look such a serene and peaceful place to be. Whenever I get ...

What You Looking at by llareggubWinning Image
llareggub

Thanks for all your cute baby animal photos! We've picked five winners, in no particular order, and they are: llareggub, WeeGeordieLass, Sue Turner, Pluckyfilly and Ourdayphotos! llareggub's chick is a nice clean image that represents the theme well. WeeGeordieLass' lamb is well framed, and there is just enough blur so that the lamb stands out, but the background is still recognisable. Sue Turner's baby monkey is not necessarily linked to easte...

Colour of Summer by martinlWinning Image

An all time record number of entries were submitted for this competition, resulting in well over 1700 photos! The fact is it's easier to photograph flowers as most of us have a garden or access to a garden and the stunning prize of two Olympus Pen E-PL3 cameras helped. It may be easy to photograph flowers but recording them artistically can be a challenge as many of you have found. Considering the huge number of photos the shortlist is relative...

Vanguard 'Nature' Competition

Araneus diadematus by GlynnWinning Image
Glynn

Thanks for the great response to this competition we had well over 1000 entries and a fabulous array of wildlife and nature pictures from incredible macros to sweeping vistas. The winner will not be to everyone's tastes, not because of the quality, which is out of this world, but the subject - a spider - can be a bit of a phobia for some. So we hope you can hide the phobia for a few moments and enjoy the high definition image that's beautifully ...

foliopic 'Childhood' Competition

Florance and the Rabbit by Patricia FennWinning Image
Patricia Fenn

Photographing children is one of the harder subjects to master, so we were surprised to see such a good level of entry and there are some excellent pictures amongst the shortlist. The winning six photographs show a variety of emotions / stages of childhood. They are in no particular order, although the system doesn't allow equal first place so we had to number them one to six. Patricia Fenn's girl with rabbit is beautifully balanced and shows t...

Engulfed by TynnwrlluniauWinning Image
Tynnwrlluniau

'Weather' was the theme for the last installment of Vanguard's eight-week long photography competition and there was plenty of wind, rain, snow and rainbow shots for the judge to work their way through. After narrowing down a shortlist it was decided that Tynnwrlluniau (Alun Davies) with his shot Engulfed really summed up what the theme was all about. The power of the wave smashing into the sea wall can really be felt and Alun timed it extremel...

Camping with glaciers by alastairwilsonWinning Image
alastairwilson

Low light was the theme for this competition and with over 200 entries, it wasn't easy to narrow down a shortlist and even harder to pick just one winner. After some deliberation, it was decided that alastairwilson's Camping with glaciers was most definitely a worthy winner. Not only is the shot impressive, the amount of time and dedication put into producing it is too. There's interest right through the shot, starting with the tent in the foreg...

Madeleine Roses by TakaraDancyWinning Image
TakaraDancy

Week six of Vanguard's eight-week long competition is over which means an award-winning Alta Pro 283CT tripod will soon be on its way to our latest winner. The theme for this competition was 'portraiture' and again, you didn't make the judge's job easy. Many that were shortlised were worthy winners but it was TakaraDancy's 'Madeleine Roses' that really stood out from the crowd. It's a well taken portrait that really 'pops' from the background th...

Middle of the road by richshepWinning Image
richshep

With the size of the shortlist it's easy to see that the judges didn't have an easy time picking just one winner! There were so many excellent examples of 'Slow Shutter Speed' shots it took some hard deliberation to come to a final decision. We had everything from seascapes with dry-ice like water to light trails in cities to look through and there were also a few creative shots of people moving and light painters decorating scenes with interest...

winter reflexions by jordachelrWinning Image
jordachelr

Our 'Winter Wonderland' competition theme ran for two weeks and, as always, you made it hard to pick just two winners. There were some really excellent entries all of which made us feel very Christmassy over the festive period. The winner of week three is jordachelr with wintr reflexions. The image is simple yet interesting and colourful as well as featuring the all important dusting of snow you'd expect to see in a 'Winter Wonderland' themed sh...
