I was up in the Lake District running a training course and it was the final afternoon, so I was deciding whether I had time to go and do some photography before I lost the light. My plan was to head for Derwent but accidently ended up at Coniston! With about half an hour of decent light left, I tried a few test shots whilst waiting to see what the light would do. Then in the space of ten minutes, the sun dipped below the horizon and there was this amazing crimson glow across the sky! This is one of my favourite shots as I love the darkness looming and the firey sky.

The best laid plans..... but what a result. Beautiful crimson lake (pun intended Smile).

Stunning variation on a classic composition. I feel the red's saturation slider has played it's part but who cares?. It's a beauty.

Thanks for the comments. Doug, I swear as god is my witness I haven't altered the colour of the image at all. Other than a crop and losing a few bits of eronous details, it's as I took it in the camera.

Cracking sky!
