Winter at Fort Drum, NY
Certainly looks like a lot more snow to come and sit on that tree, the snow looks a bit bluey Grey did you have any positive compensation dialed in on this one?
No compensation. Just increased the contrast 2%
Exactly how I like to think of snow!
Very similar to my image today with snow instead of mist, I like this very much a lovely winter shot. - gary
I like the composition but the image has a distinct blue cast to it. Take the blue out and the scene will look much more natural.
Great winter scene.
Yes,a bit blue, but think it adds to the ''coldness'' of the image.
A lovely Christmassy image. I really like this..............Sandy
There is no other adjustment but the increase on contrast. The blue tone is the natural effect of the light in this area

Snow will have a blue cast to it wherever you live, not just in your area! It is the reflection from a blue sky, the human eye corrects it but a camera canít. If you particularly want a blue cast to a snow image there is nothing more to say, and mikbee thinks it adds to the "coldness" of the image. However if you want a more natural looking snow scene you need to make some adjustments to your camera. Try over exposing by (possibly) one stop . . . . thatís what richsr meant in the first comment. If you can, try a different W/B setting. Do you use Photoshop? If you do, the blue cast can be taken out by selecting the snow area then reducing the blue content.

link the snow is how it should look, white.
No offence meant, just trying to help.
Ahh, the eternal snow controversy......I have seen snow in every color of the rainbow, depending on the sky, but it is rarely pure white, at least in my latitude.
I do occasionally alter the photo to make it appear more white.
I have noticed that people who live in the south seem to want the snow whiter than those of us who live in the north.
I think the image would look good both ways, because it its an excellent composition.
Right now, I am looking out my window, and the snow on the lake is pink, reflection of the sunrise.
Thanks all for your comments and advice, it s very appreciated.
Lovely shot, great composition!
I love this shot because as soon as I saw it, I could see Clark Griswold cutting it down in Christmas Vacation. Great shot.
Excellent xmas shot, love the biue tone
I'm looking out of my window and all I see is rain.

" A Happy 2010! All the Best! "
Simple and beautiful. It somehow gives the feeling of being inside and looking out on the cold scene.
I agree with dricherby! beautiful image.samantha
Beautiful shot well taken.
thanks for sharing.
The lights have gone out and Christmas is over, your little tree is back in the forrest alone and in the gathering dark.
Love how you have found the one lone pine to stand out and make this simple image work, like it.
Lovely scene...and I like the colour gives more of a 'feel' for the image. David
Lovely composition, really exemplifies the coldness and bleakness of a rural snowscape.
A beautiful, serene, winter shot. Well done. Bob
Thanks all for the encouraging comments.
Like this, a lone tree in a bleak isolated scene can almost feel the coldness of it,a well done and composed picture.
Lovely 'quintessence of winter' image.
Great winter shot,
What ever color snow is..
A very cold wintery image.
Captured the "feel" of a blisard very well with good interest by adding the tree in the comp - Ina
