Falling

This is an image that haunts me.

Its inspired by a dream/nightmare where i was rushing up stairs in a huge old building trying to reach someone at the top, but no matter how fast i ran or how many floors i climbed, i could never get close to the roof. In my dream all i could hear was wind and screams. Not screams of physical pain, but like the scream of a parent who has lost a child, or of someone who has lost the person they love the most. Then all i heard was wind. As i looked out the grimy windows i saw the person fall, as they reached out into the sky as if to hold on to someone only they could see.

I don't know who the person was in the dream. I never saw their face, and only ever saw them fall, but its an image that felt so real.
