This dramatic photo was taken on a days hillwalking on Meall Glas near Crainlarach in the Scottish Highlands. It was extremely cold and as the day went on the wind really got up, making it difficult to keep our footing. As the sun was low, my friend Bryan moved over to silhouette himself and we didn't have to wait long for next big blast. It really did feel as though it could rip the hide of a Woolly Mammoth! I was really chuffed that I managed to capture Bryan's shadow cast through the spindrift as i feel that it adds depth. The light on the spindrift gave a really vibrant glow around his silhouette and the movement of the iridescent ice crystals captures the drama of the moment. I've tried adjusting the temperature to make it look colder and adding some vignetting but I keep coming back to the original image.

Wonderfully captured contre jour image - I can feel the wind and the cold. Super stuff this.
