This one is from the archives; images captured with my Fuji E-900 the year my Olympus E-620 was damaged - so you shoot with your back-up camera.
Challenging to work with these files now, after having used RAW - this one of course shot in jpg mode, and with an amazing amount of noise in the original. Interesting to try to find some processing that can make these work.
Thanks for looking,
Anne

A lovely juxtaposition of lines and shapes. The figure gives a fine balance to the image. Well seen.
EXcellent placement of the lone figure, Anne. Good symmetry along that line of identical sized images which is mirrored by the rectangular detail along the top of the wall, under the dome, and then the restangular theme is continued by the high windows.
The sense of scale here is marvellously portrayed.

Jon, thanks for the mod - a really different take, and I quite like it. ![]()

Increasingly I find that I enjoy noise in an image like this, it softens an image, balances cool clean abstract lines.
I love the Mod! I was vaguely thinking about moving the man around, or creating an army of art critics. I may have a play...
Moira
Terrific shot. I fond the noise like grain in a film shot, - but nevertheless loaded a noise reduced mod, with some contrast added. I may also modify the mod to add something like film grain.
Jons mod is really nice also.

Willie

Which noise reduction software are you using! Amazing, considering that I had added more grain to my original image
Thanks for your time with this Willie - much appreciated.
Anne
Moira thanks for your mod - I had a feeling we would be having colliding twins in the one you were doing
Thanks for your time.

Quote: The NR is Noise Ninja, - I think its the best.
Loaded another mod in the meantime.
W
Thanks, and thanks for the other two mods
I like them. I have a few more in this series, and I'll remember to up the contrast on those.
Anne
I have done a mod where I set shadow to 0% and highlights to 42%.
I use Noise Ninja too - iut can be purchased from http://www.picturecode.com/
Well this has been an interesting one to follow - some great mods Anne - for a super composition
Helen
Perfectly placed figure.. Great perspective, space & I like the grain... It ads to the whole image
Great shot
Wow, thanks to all of you who stopped by, voted, commented, and mod'ed
I do believe y'all have gone mod crazy, and what fun this is to see. It's rather encouraging! Good information about noise reduction software - thanks for that. I've used Noise Ninja for a long time and like it as a plug-in for Photoshop. I also have Neat Image, and Define from NIK software. I also like the built in noise reduction in Lightroom 3.
Thanks to Jenn for your UA - I've sent you a PM.
Anne
Well, a great picture to start with, Anne, but I also found the comments and mods of interest.

And the final one is the icing on the cake - just showed it to John (the art critic) and he loved it too.
Anne
it was very interesting how many got inspired by =an already perfect shot!
A picture to learn from.
I use Imagenomic Noiseware Standard, a Photoshop plugin, which was recommended by a fellow EPZer, and it works excellently for me. I notice that amongst all the mods, Herge88 has used this same plugin ![]()
However, noise or no noise, it's a super shot Anne, and perfectly symmetrical - I bet that took you ages, if this this isn't exactly as shot! The inclusion of the figure too, is perfectly placed. Love it! ![]()

It's so interesting the weight people put on noise in an image. It used to be called grain, and was desirable in many cases. Your original image has real class, as witnessed by the HC. There is real truth to it.
Sometimes I think we have gotten too technical, just because we can.
Good morning
Especially pleased to see an HC on this one - thanks Pete!

This is how I shot it Trev - just a bit of cropping on each side. I'll have to look into Imagenomic, but will wait and see how the new Lightroom 4 handles noise.
Anne
love the grain, mono, composition, curves and straight lines...............x
