I wonder if you know this image , by Bert (HenriAntoine as was here). There are so many resonances. The child's curiosity and spirit of adventure, the adult's instinct to protect...

I agree the consonance with Bert, though your photo is perhaps gutsier, more 21st-century realism (concrete-jungle environment, even though I'm a bit of an old softy.....) while the surrounding geometry you depict is rather more challenging.
There is something indomitable about the figure of the child, a desire for progress regardless of the consequences. The raised foot is so meaningful in that respect, almost challenging us to follow.
Somehow a colour photograph just would not have the same impact.
Excellent in every way.
