This image is one of over two hundred taken at a Helmut Newton tribute photo shoot last year. I arrived at Annie’s apartment with set ideas which became more bizarre and incongruous after seeing her surroundings. Much against her wishes she permitted this photograph to be taken, it became the iconic image of the entire portfolio. I guess she has never really accepted its imaginative use of a room’s state. For me it was a gift.
