Silhouettes July

WOW!!!! This has been, without doubt, the best competition to date with an amazing 557 entries. The nearest to this was Patterns & Textures with 347 entries. Considering the new one was restricted to two entries per person that's way over twice the number of entries! And the quality was superb. I've said several times that picking a winner is difficult. You'll see what I mean with this lot. Look at the superb shortlist entries too. Amazing. Well done everyone, but extra special congratulations to the four who made it through to the final.
Aleksey Lapkovsky's photo breathed life. It meets the theme perfectly but rather than the typical black silhouette against a colour backwash it has fantastic depth and emotion that perfectly freezes a moment in time. I hope you find time to comment on Aleksey's photo and give your thoughts.
Tim Savage, again very clever exposure. The foreground washed with monotone hue and the lone figure in the distance with mirror reflection. Definitely one for the wall.
Tom Peacey's image is diffused, colorful, creative, unique. We love it.
Robert Ashby's study of three horses brings together a magnificent beast perfectly silhouetted against a stormy sky. The two central subjects caught at a just the right moment. It may have been higher if the third horse had been in a better position or even not in shot at all.
Well I hope you agree with our choice and good luck with the squares theme. A little harder but we hope we get the same number of imaginative entries.
