Daily Mirror Picture Editor, Ian Down and Staff Photographer, James Vellacott judged the competition. Here's what they thought:
"We were overwhelmed by the high standard of images entered in the 'Travel' competition. The powerful, colourful and vivid images illustrated the amazing natural light that can be found on our planet.
We've picked 'Roadside Repairs' by Darren Athersmith (dathersmith) as the winning image for the dual meaning to 'travel'. It was taken on a trip to Havana of a car which had clearly seen better travelling days and the jaded bright colour of the car contrasts beautifully with the road and vanishing point background. The dirty jeans of the man shows he was not willing to give up his classically stylish form of travel. The image has a great feel, features lovely lighting, it's pin sharp and it's a really clever use of the theme."
Well done to all those who were shortlisted and congratulations again to Darren who's won a fantastic photography kit jam-packed with goodies courtesy of our kind sponsors.
