There was so much action in the photos you entered we needed a sit down after looking through them!

Football, rugby, surfing, cycling, running and even sky diving were just a few of the excellent examples you sent in but there could only be one winner and that was Gerard Sexton (gerdoms) with Howzat.

Here's what the judge had to say: “Good sports photography is often about precise timing and you can't get a better moment than this. The cricket ball splits the wickets and the bat catches the ground sending up a spray of earth all in perfect unison to deliver a perfectly timed action shot.”

Gerard's won a  three-night, four-day trip to South Africa for two people where he'll get the opportunity to be pitch side at a World Cup match! He's also won a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX5 camera.
