Watford Camera Club

Watford Camera Club was founded in 1903 and is affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain. Anyone interested in photography is welcome - from novices to experienced photographers.

Meetings take place weekly at 7.45pm on Thursday evenings at the Friends Meeting House, 150 Church Road, Watford WD17 4QB (Nascot Wood area) where there is free parking. The season runs from September to mid-June.

The Programme offers competition evenings interspersed with lectures on all aspects of photography, social events and visits.

The Competitions cater for prints and digital projected images from all grades of photographer, and a judge provides a commentary and scores. You can have your work printed commercially - you don’t have to have a darkroom or a computer. However, almost all our members produce their photographs with digital cameras and computers.

The Club takes part in league and friendly external competitions with various photographic clubs in the North West London and Chilterns areas.

We also have links with and visits to other UK and overseas photographic clubs.

The annual Watford International Salon of Photography (WISP) invites entries from 10 clubs worldwide. We always look forward to seeing the widely differing styles of photography.

Studio Group meets on an ad hoc basis about every two months. Recent subjects have been a karate group, a belly dancing class, Spanish dancers, and a Husky dog!

Workshop Evenings take place about every 6 weeks, focusing on Adobe Photoshop™ photo editing software and technical aspects of photography.

Our Annual Exhibition takes place from 26th September to 4th October 2009 inclusive, in the Gallery at the Harlequin Shopping Centre. All members are encouraged to enter.

We also stage long-running smaller exhibitions at other venues in the town.

We have a Club magazine ‘Highlight’ which is published 3 times a year.

Individual subscriptions are just £45 per annum, with reductions for families, senior citizens and full-time students.

Visitors are welcome to come to 2 or 3 meetings free of charge.
