Here's a snap shot taken with a Hoya R72 Infrared filter on the D700 for nick_w. I had a 35mm f/2 manual lens on the camera and the focus was set at infinity. The IR filter added and meter reading taken through the filter. The exposure was three stops longer then the indicated auto reading. So a filtered meter reading was 4 sec but the actual exposure necessary 30 seconds. Hope that helps. I get sharper photos using an old Pentax *ist D that's been IR converted. That's the better approach - buy an old digital body and get an IR conversion.
