Leica C1
Leica cameras have been around for many years, and are known not only for their quality of design, optics, desirability, and little red logo, but the cost to the end user......us! Now you can own a compact with all the above qualities, without the latter... well, almost! Top quality, many features, great lens and pocketability is the order of the day. This would suit any photographer wanting super shots, and a collectable camera at the same time.

Minolta Riva Zoom 150
This is a very compact unit, especially as it houses a 4X zoom lens - it is reputably the smallest of its type at present. The ergonomic styling certainly makes the camera easy to use and all the controls are well laid out. The autofocus is one of the units strongest features, although the large zoom range would mean using fast (ISO400) film most of the time, to avoid camera shake.

Minolta Riva Zoom 125
Minolta have changed the body style of its latest range of 35mm compacts, giving them a well -rounded, neater finish, which is certainly more eye-catching than before. The zoom mechanism is very smooth and quiet and all the controls are very positive to operate. We can't imagine anyone not liking this camera - it's a cracker!

Minolta Riva Zoom 90
The Minolta Zoom 90 has one of the best zoom ranges in its class, incorporating both close-up and portrait modes, to make picture taking easier. Both the size and weight make this a very pocketable camera, that has easy loading and some useful flash modes for more advanced use. But can equally be used as a great point-and-shoot camera.

Goko FR350
This camera sports an unusual focusing system, not seen on many (if any) cameras at this level, enabling the user to select different close-focus options down to 10cm. This requires a frame for making sure you get your flower in the photo and not your hand, but is a neat feature for such an otherwise basic camera.

Goko AZS 700AF
This 35mm camera has a very sharp 35-70mm zoom, suitable for taking photos on slide, as well as print film - it is very good. The rest of the camera is quite basic, but does have a close focus macro mode down to 30cm. The silver green colour and rubbery controls are an acquired taste, but the biggest drawback is the lens protector there isn't one, so the high quality lens attracts dust, and fingerprints with ease - a great pity.
