This is a great camera.

I've owned mine for about two and a half years, having bought it in near mint condition from a UK dealer.

In terms of build it is very solid and feels robust. Compared to the more consumer models in Nikon's range it has very good ergonomics - there are several user assignable buttons which allow you to (for example) switch to spot metering or control focus. Selecting ISO, mode, quality, WB etc. are all done using a dedicated button and one of the command dials.

A great feature of this camera is that it will meter with older Nikon manual focus lenses (anything designated AI or later) which means that you can purchase great second hand lenses without breaking the bank.

I find colour rendition to be very good, especially at base ISO (100). I've been comfortable using ISO 800 and will use 1600 (with NR software post processing) when necessary.

I've never noticed the D200 to be slow, it turns on pretty much instantly and is happy to capture images as fast as I shoot. I don't often shoot in continuous mode, but when I have (e.g. Airshows) it has kept up with the action.

AF wise there is a choice of 11 sensors, with various AF modes to allow dynamic tracking etc.

All in all I really like my D200 and am still learning to get the best from it.
