A photographic exhibition entitled ‘William A. Bolton – Visions of the Natural World’ is due to open at the CREATE Centre gallery in Bristol on Friday 31st July 2009.
Running through until the 31st August 2009 the work on show will take the form of large format photographic prints drawn from a new collection of work inspired by the British rural landscape.
William’s intuitive photographic eye captures those fleeting moments and hidden treasures often missed while out walking or visiting nature reserves. These are moments when the unfamiliar can be found in the familiar. His understanding of photographic technique is obvious in a great many of the pieces on display, using depth of field, shutter speed, selective focus and camera angle to his creative advantage. Alongside these works are more traditional examples of wildlife photography that require patience and planning to execute successfully.
With an academic and professional background in wildlife and conservation William has managed to combine these interests with stills photography and the moving image. He works as a wildlife camera specialist for the BBC Natural History Unit in Bristol on the BBC2 programmes Springwatch and Autumnwatch.
It is William’s hope that the images inspire and motivate the viewer to engage with their local environment and appreciate the biodiversity it contains and this ties in neatly to the ethics and work of the CREATE Centre where the exhibition is on display.
At the heart of Bristol's environmental and sustainability movement, CREATE works to promote understanding and learning about environmental issues of local, national and international importance.
The exhibition is open Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm, so please visit to explore our fascinating natural world and the stark challenges facing the planet.
The Exhibition Preview will take place on Friday 31st July between 6pm-9pm. All are welcome. Refreshments available.
