Photoshop CS5 is it worth it?
I migrated from CS2 to CS5 and I'm seriously impressed. All the basic stuff's the same (obviously) but CS5 is a definite improvement over CS2 in the way in which it can carry that stuff out. It's also a lot quicker even on my faithful old XP-shod Dell!

Just answered my own question with much help section trawling - for anyone who wants to know: Select the files in elements (i guess this works for other versions other than 7 too) and go to 'File' then 'Write keyword tags and properties to photo' - Elements will then plug away including these in the photo's metadata and Bridge should recognise them when photos are opened and create new tags in...

EOS 7D and Photoshop CS5
I have found that Lightroom (and ACR is just the same as far as RAW compatibility is concerned) issue updates within days of new cameras by major manufacturers being released - certainly well before they are available retail in UK. In whatever RAW software you use, simply go to the "Help" tab and click on "Check for Updates" and it should download and install the latest update automatically....

Adobe twists the knife even more............
That is good news, I'm very much the same as Dave_Canon on this. In my case because of hardware purchase timing I probably wouldn't have updated my CS3 suite otherwise.

Photoshop
I would suggest pixlr / GIMP combo for a free choice.

Adobe CS5 launches in April.
Don't worry, Jas it's not compulsory! Well, certainly not as compelling as my old Rollei Enlarger was (in its time :) )

Adobe Creative Suite Lie
I've got that downloaded ready to watch, (I did watch first five or ten minutes and it looks fab). That is interesting about DW.

Downloadable stuff, I guess. It also mentions a 9-day cutoff for claims - I doubt something bought last year will qualify.

Promotional price from Adobe.
Didn't sound sarcastic to me.

Manual for CS5
I have the martin evening book, it explains things well "IF" you understand the statemnts being made on the subject so you do need to be fairly advanced. Content aware works well if you have the right subject for it to work, if you dont as most say its a pile of poo. CS5 is by far the best advancement for photographers though love the new edge tools and puppet warp and the new brush tools e...

Lightroom or CS5
I personally don't think it is an either or decision. I use Lightroom for 85% of my work and only edit in CS5 when there is a specific need to i.e. cloning etc. If I had to make an either or decision it would have to be Lightroom but I sure would miss the features in CS5. A decision I would not like to have to make. Steve

Which Adobe?????
Another vote for Lightroom although having said that, I don't think I could use just that. And having used CS2 and now CS5 it would be very dificult to be happy with anything less. Jester.

Photoshop version
Cheers for the replies guys. I have done some research. I'm not particularly happy to use a student version because I'm not a student or involved in education in any way. My daughters dont live with me full time (modern society!?) so I feel installing a student version on my home PC may be bending the rules too much. The 50% upgrade reduction sounds interesting Overread. I have earnestly ...
