As a very new boy who has only just joined, I have found this thread incredibly interesting and can't wait to look at some of the work of people mentioned. What I have found in a very short time is the incredible kindness and willingness to help by so many people, especially David Whenham and David Constable who's work I admire immensely. I don't expect any of you here are old enough to reme...

Bloody hell. We were doing 2 to 3 weddings per month. 4 rolls 0f 120 (12 per roll for 6x7), And they say we Scots are mean. I only manage 10 6x7 images on a roll of 120. Tell me how you squeeze in another two! :) :) Mamiya RZ67 10 per roll of 120. Mamiya 645 15 per roll of 120. Sorry had a senior moment, been to check some negs and as you rightly said 10 per roll and as the wife j...

LeftForum, I was not attempting to give a scientific explantion of Dynamic Range Film v Digital but a good source is: Dr Roger Clark I am well aware that the human eye/brain exceeds the dynamic range of cameras. Typically, a scene looking towards full sun will be 17-18 stops dynamic range and typically human eye/brain (with pupil dilation) will be about 17 stops. It most likely evolved this...

Hi all. I'm back for a bit. I will be very busy over the next couple of months getting ready to deploy, but will try to stop in and check up on things. Hi Amber, glad you found the site :) Look forward to seeing more pictures, know he probably took alot of them. The guys here are curious also, he was going to do some pictures using pringles chips, If you run across any, would you mind postin...

Hmm, the freeware version is a bit too limited. It only combines two images for blending, and if you make an HDR image it does not do the tone mapping, the bit that makes the biggest difference I have observed. Are you talking Photomatix Basic here? The version I downloaded from Photomatix website a few weeks ago definitely does HDR as well. It can simply blend two images OR it can make an ...

Didn't have the first clue on taking landscapes, frankly I still don't. However I posted 4 landscapes one after the other on here, pleaded with folk to comment rather than click and hey presto 11 tips. Not a bad place to learn epz. A number of photographers here really know their craft. By the way those landscapes I posted 3 are in the bin lol. Practise my boy practise. Andrew

I agree with Jestertheclown. I used to upload images for votes as I thought was a good way of seeing how good/bad my photos were. Nothing could be further from the truth. I now upload for critique as this is the best place to get feedback on images. Thanks to feedback I received on 1 image of Jamie Archer I was able to go away and have an other go and came back with a far better image.

Exactly, black and white conversion example of how different channels affect different colours. Couldn't agree with you more Nick, it's the key to the whole thing, and you don't need a plug in. Thats a perfect example Chris, all you do then is load each channel into seperate layers, use layer masks and you can adjust the tones manually to exactly how you want it. The problem is I don't t...
