Like Justin I have never used either, but also have read that the canon and sigma are very close in terms of image quality - comparing my sigma 150mm build to the canon 70-200 f2.8 IS the canon is the stronger, but its metal finish will mean its the heavier (and most consider the sigma 180mm a tripod macro - as in its a little too heavy for prolonged handheld use - not saying it cannot be done ...

Interesting... the other thing i was worried about was that the cannon lenses are both 58mm while the sigmas are two different sizes, which sorta means i may need to purchase more filters than if i go w/ canon...thoughts on that anyone? now its not like i dislike 3rd party lenses, my last camera was a 300d w/ a tamron 28-300....and you know what, i loved it!

At a risk of resurrecting a long dead topic, I just thought I'd let you know that in my reviews specification, I will be listing the dots and pixels of the screen as per the manufacturers policy. For example, I am currently reviewing the 1Ds MkIII, it says a screen resolution of 230,000. I have listed it as dots and bracketed 76,000 pixels as per the email I received from them. Nb, I know...

Couldn't get that done in time, but I've now completed the review including some indoor high ISO shots. The video review will be up on epz.tv soon. :)

A few points which may or may not be of interest. Apologies if any of it sounds patronising. It's not meant to. All lenses vignette to some degree. It's worst for wide angles when used wide open, and lessens as you stop down. But as Strawman rightly points out, a digital sensor can add extra vignetting. The solution is to make sure that light from the lens hits the sensor head on. Such a le...

The New Canon 7D
I have the beta version of Lightroom 3 and will give it a go, but there are some other drawbacks with the new version, natably the new clunkier interface when importing.... If anyone else has bought the battery grip I'd be very interested in your experience of the shutter button on it. On mine it's MUCH more sensitive than the main body shutter button for some reason.

Canon 7D Review
I have seen that review by roland, I don't know what he was doing but I have got better results with my 20D than he managed with a 7D.for every poor review of the 7d you will find a good review I have posted some here. Also The 5d is better but only just, I have tested them side by side thats the only way http://photo.net/wedding-photography-forum/00UuzW http://fresnophotoblog.com/2009/10...

Nikon D70 vs Canon 20D
I appreciate all the opinions here as all of them valid ..cough 20d cough! I'm a Canon fan but only because I have a couple of decent L series lenses!! Seriously, I was under the opinion that you could have the Canon 1ds Mark2 at 5,000 and if you put a budget lens on it, 300, you might as well have a far less spec camera. The camera is only as good as your lens!!

Canon wide glass comparison?
Fair point.

30D review in Digital Camera
This is completely misleading to readers looking to buy a camera. The 30D has been marked down because of a lack of innovation by Canon not because it fails to do anything in particular. Its seems decent value for money unless compared with the 20D which is being sold off cheaply as an obsolete model. Whether its as good a buy as a D200 is a different issue but certainly from what I've read sho...

Canon Powershot Pro 1
There is now a review of the Pro-1 on DC Resource HERE Interesting quote at the end: "Thus far, I've only reviewed two 8MP cameras: this one, and the Sony DSC-F828. I give the edge to the Pro1 in most areas, most importantly image quality and manual controls. The F828 does get points for a faster lens, superior AF system, and nicer movie mode. It's also a hefty camera to carry around, com...
