Hi, You need to go and handle a selection of cameras before you part with your money. I have an Olympus OM2n and a Nikon FE2 and I find both cameras feel great for my hands. I recently went Digital and bought a Samsung GX20 that was on offer with 2 lenses. Before deciding on the Samsung I picked up a Nikon 3000, Canon and even a Sony of around the £400 - £500 price range and they did not fee...

So far yes but not really had a chance to fully work out yet with it. But the pure feel of it and lens movement and changing etc sweet the ergonimics are also really good and the body has a good solid weight and feel to it, not cheap in any way at all. I have a couple of images on my portfolio taken with it. Has this ca...

Hope you have not lost too much in selling that 5D. Well I've had it best part of 3 years, and I got a price for it with which I am very happy, so it's all good! ;) I'm certainly not ruling out getting a 5D3 in due course but it will depend, heavily, on whether more (commissioned) video work comes my way. I don't really think I could present the Pen's video as pro quality. Although rath...

As for the screen discussion going on above, I find shooting with the optical finder on the DP1 no problem at all, Me either, EVF's are fine, as they are right up close to your eye, so you look through, rather than "at". Holding a camera at arms length, and using a screen, means the camera becomes the object of your attention, rather than the subject. Must admit, I am impressed that the p...

As we enter an age where a full-size DSLR is (for example) viewed with suspicion by security jobsworths and the like, Micro 4/3 cameras which can deliver high quality results begin to to make a case for themselves.

Someone recommended a Canon Powershot S90, they said that the camera performers better in low light than the Canon G11, faster wide angle lens and the ISO can be pushed up high with out getting to much noise, it does look a great little camera.

Cheap DP2

Interesting one, not sure I could navigate the German site though - i think i'd need to resort to email too! It was fairly simple with judicious use of copy, paste, and google translate!

Picked my GH1 up this morning from Mathers in Bolton. £995!! Almost £200 cheaper than everywhere else like Park Cameras that I've used quite a bit over the past. In black of course, and I'm very pleased with it so far. I'm quite taken back by how good the EVF is. It's optically not as good as optical, but it has so many other advantages, that out weigh the optical advantage in some (or a lot...

DSLR: a question

I thought M9 was a light hearted contribution - but a good point too, its pretty compact and probably as good as it gets in quality. And its less than £5K now. Including VAT I make it £4954.975, and that includes a battery as well. You could pick up an M6 for a fraction of the price, something I`ve been considering, ok it uses film but decent scanners don`t cost huge amounts.

D300s Pointless

My dad has a D300s and it's an excellent SLR, even though I bought a Nikon D700 a few months ago, I would not mind owning a D300s as well.

USE FILM again !! My boy was GIVEN an Olympus OM2n with 50mm f1.8 and 70-150mm Zuiko lenses and gets very good results -- no 'SOFTWARE' problems at all -- I develop his B&W and most of his C41 or take it to a High Street Pharmacy which has an account with SIGFOTO laboratory who do an excellent job of processing and printing C41.

Hi Jo, Nice Mates you have :-) and thats a good reason for staying with Nikon if they will also shoot with you and share lenses then this will be great - even if its just to try before buying. The move to SLR will give you a bigger sensor, which in turn will give you the ability to have a shallower depth of feild - good for you portraits. SLR's are typically Full Frame or APS-c size senso...
