No brick walls needed - we can finally agree. :-) A rather tenuous agreement, but technically agreement none the less. Doug

Michael, There are two new pieces of software from Canon. The one above is Digital Photo Professional, which is only for 1D, 1D Mk II, and 1Ds owners. The second, which supports all the above plus D30, D60, 10D and 300D is called EOS Viewer Utility. I have only downloaded DPP, so can't comment on EVL.

that's an ePz rule (to drift off the original topic) I believe it may even be compulsory! :) None of us want to pay more than we need to but Adobe is not a charity Quite.

Tell me why I cannot batch process more than one RAW file at a time and use saved settings on some of the parameters? Cos you haven't found the right "button" in C1? :)

Quote:Silkypix for raw devThat program is so underated, whats the latest edition of the software like ??? Its very good and they do tend to update the software regually as soon as a new camera comes out. I think the reason it is under rated is because it is complicated and there is such a vast array of settings that are not immdiatly understood or easily accsesed and also the translated jap...

Wanted to just echo. This is my work flow as well.Working and saving non destructive layers to re tweek as decide later.Or back to original 16 bit Background COPY I convert RAW to TIFF, as it will be the file I work in PS and save as layers. If I do not save it as layers, and need to tweak the editing in PS, I would never get it back from RAW stage. And I can't save layers in JPEG. Don't r...

There is often confusion between editing and manipulation. I agree with everything you say. The scope and capability of Photoshop is astounding. I started using it in 1991 (version 1!) when we used to develop colour films in hotel rooms, scan the resulting negs via PS, noodle with the levels and unsharp mask and then transmit them to London from all over the world. The modems we used then we...

I have resolved the RAW/JPEG delimna for myself. This forum has been helpful. My experience today was also helpful. I took a very nice JPEG into the printers looking for an 11x14 print. The image would print at about 200 dpi. Now that might be good enought for my fading eyesight, but not nearly as good as the recommended 300-400 dpi. I may have saved the image several times and lost resol...

Yes after reading a few times I understand and thats what I want...get the basics like WB and Exposure sorted on a screen then over to P/S to do my normal clumsy messing about. Guy Gowan would tell you that this is exactly how he does it (ok with Aperture or ACR instead of Lightroom and perhaps not the clumsy messing about!) Having said that, Lightroom does have a lot going for it too. O...
