I have used one of those 60 LED inspection lamps with some success. Fully charged they last for hours, and are more controllable than flash. And thay are cheeeeeeeap, around £10-£14. I am actually considering taking one apart and converting it into a 'ring light'.

I think someone's organizing a dragonfly shoot around here sometime (Paxton Pits). Duxford airshows are always good, and locals know where the free seats can be had ;-)

In all my years of using CF - I've never had a problem - just dont use a hammer to insert it - seriously - just respect your gear (whatever it is) and it'll last ages etc.

I've seen a lot of mirror lenses on overstockers.com. I suspect that their wide barrels would make it difficult to connect them to some modern DSLRs with overhanging pop-up flash housings. When mirror lenses were popular (in the 1980's) cameras had pentaprism housings that did not stick out (far, if at all) beyond the front of the camera body. Professional DSLR's have their housings high above ...

The canon 10-22mm is pretty good. I use it on a 20D and have prints right upto 36" wide with made using it and they still look good ... it has to be used with caution and stopped down a fair bit - the 24-70mm F2.8 is outstanding but will blow your budget. The sigma 24-70mm is a great lens and definately needs to be stopped down as its soft wide open. Dan

Quote:Talk about condescending and patronising. Still, posting waffle and twaddle, is one way to distract us from the issue at hand. Here's a nice picture: link If you think you can take that hand held, you'd better get a tin helmet, as you don't want to be knocked unconscious by falling pig poop. As the other poster said, it would be nice to see examples images. All mouth and no trousers...

I have to say I do like the fact that most ebay shops actually put good product info on their sales! The kit you link to did interest me at one time, but the biggest problem that I can see is that the flash heads don't have any power settings. Not a single one as far as I can see. Which means you'll be firing them full power with a 5-8second recyling time (that is pretty darn slow). Conside...

an electronic viewfinder would be horribleHorrible is a bit strong. They're not fantastic, but they are surprisingly usable. On a compact its more useful than the poor quality optical finders that some of them have, and a lot more useful than not having a finder. And a lot better than a fixed LCD on the back. (A movable LCD is another matter) it will never match an optical view finder. They'...

At a risk of resurrecting a long dead topic, I just thought I'd let you know that in my reviews specification, I will be listing the dots and pixels of the screen as per the manufacturers policy. For example, I am currently reviewing the 1Ds MkIII, it says a screen resolution of 230,000. I have listed it as dots and bracketed 76,000 pixels as per the email I received from them. Nb, I know...
