I think we all make terrible mistakes at some time-even as an old Pro,I dropped some clangers, and got rid of those objects we don't want. I could kick myself now, items I've discarded I would like back...at a cost!.

Holga

I suggested getting a Holga for medium format experiments while studying for my photography HND and was laughed at by my tutor. He reckoned I'd get an old Rollei for about £90 from eBay, but when I looked, old Rolleis were about £2000. I eventually bought a Seagull TLR for med. format work which cost 260 euro. Shortly afterwards I dropped my scanner and broke it (I develop the films at home) so...

Lomography

Lomography is basically marketing, and very well done. A method of getting good money for crappy old designs and keeping the cash registers going. A good proportion of modern digital photography is just astute marketing to get the tills ringing.

I don;t think it matter as long as you're comfortable enough with whatever you use that you can do it intuitively. I like this quote. "Concentrate on equipment and you'll take technically good photographs. Concentrate on seeing the light's magic colors and your images will stir the soul." I'm using this as a mental brake every time I start a new bout of EAS, equipment aquisition syndrome...
