I just got a 60D and then had to just download an update to my element 8. Have another look on the adobe site for a free patch. I'd be very surprised/annoyed with Adobe if 8 would not support the 600D.

If you look at the adverts for ludicrously cheap copies of Photoshop etc they say in the small print that this disc should only be used for a backup copy and that the purchaser should already have a valid licence. This means that the seller is not breaking any laws. Of course most people don't realise about this small print and install as new and then break the licence agreements.

If you have Windows 2000 or XP you do not need any other programme to upload from the camera since Windows Explorer will do it for you treating camera or card reader as an 'external source'. Except for some older cameras such as my Canon s20, a long discontinued model. The trap is that there is no command saying upload etc. Also in W2K the 'Copy to' and 'Move to' commands do not appear in...

Converting to TIFF is an extra stage in the process and you're not getting the real benefits of using RAW, such as the ability to change the white balance and exposure settings etc. I think you misunderstand the power of DPP and how the RAW plug in works with Elements/Photoshop. The Plug in converts the RAW file into a for the photo editor can use, so does DPP. But you will find that DPP has...

Thats cheaper than the upgrade price ......... Are there any issues when upgrading by buying the full version ? None whatsoever. Indeed, when you buy an "upgrade" it is normally the full version that you get, but the registration key will only work if it detects a valid earlier version on your PC.

Lesb, It's not nesse-celery to always scan at such a high resolution. Scanning in 150dpi is normally quite good (unless you want to print large images).

I started with Elements 2 a few years ago and think it is a good starter software for a pleasant price. It is quite powerful and with the adobe elements forum (a weekly challenge, pleasant banter and helpful members) you should have the basics soon under control. You have outgrown elements when you start yearning for photoshop. Robert

I used The Missing Manual for a different version of PSE when I had it and found it very comprehensive.

As I so seldom use the filters, I had forgotten they mostly only work on 8 bit in Elements. Many of the photo editing tools are fine in 16 bit. I must check in the GIMP, but last time I tried its 16 bit support was just as limited as Elements, later versions may be better. If you add Grants tools you get layer masks, and colour channels and curves on Elements. As far as I can tell Gimp is ...

Ah see now this is where it confuses me because PSE also has the ability to organise, tag, 'star' photos etc. So some of that can be done in PSE too. there is a lot of overlap between the products. IIRC the main difference is that PSE/Bridge is a viewer so will allow you to organize a directory when you browse to it. Ligtroom is a database, so it can remember and manage files that are on...

There's one for sale on Elements 4 on ebay, which may not help you but could help others needing a manual.

Hmm first off what operating system are you running and also have you enabled the showing of hidden files and folders as per this part of the guide Windows Users: If you can't find the folders mentioned here, make sure you have hidden files and folders set to show under Control Panel > Folder Options > View tab. Also when it comes to opening up elements are you opening it direct by clickin...
