Here's a link to someone at DPReview who gets some excellent pictures of water droplets, and is kind enough to tell people how she does it. :-) You can see them here.

Cool... in that case It's here. It's a long thread, but a really great method when you figure it out. Chris Tarantino is the main guy who knows his stuff, so pay particular attention to his advice on Calculations. Thanks Doug

I read the same page just before I posted to check if you were right. I have to admit I too struggled with the concept of slower-than-framerate shutter speeds, but I read up quite a bit before posting. There is other stuff on the web which confirms it. :)

Thanks guys. Pretty much what I've been using already. I've also had a bit of success with masked levels or curves layers. Generally, the droplets I've, so far, encountered tend to reduce the local brightness/contrast in the area of the splash. It's all been trial and error so far. Seems like "horses for courses." It's not always easy to keep dry standing beside a waterfall, though! Bill

"CO2 Science" is funded by Exxon. The move to unleaded petrol was delayed for years by scientiests sponsored by the petrochemical industry. Just hope history is not repeating.

Water Damage

Don't give up on it, place it in the airing cupboard for a few days (with the body open, i.e. no body cap). I had a film compact which was soaked while lightweight camping during a very heavy thunderstorm. I was on tour (cycling) and four days later it started working again. It still works after several years. Edit: Sorry Chris, only just noticed your post. That makes two of us with the same...
