I have TWO Tamron lenses, both 'gifts' many years apart -- they have the 'Adaptall mount' M42 screw and one had also the Contax / Yashica mount -- I use them with many cameras -- they are 'heavy' compared with the 'modern' plastic - barrelled ones but SHARP at full aperture -- that is the important bit ! LEFT is a fixed focal length 300mm f5.5 RIGHT my latest one an 'SP' 3.5-4 70-210...

M43 Tamron

That Olympus 300mm f4 on bhphotovideo.com, is that for real, says coming soon. It has a tripod attachment on it. Yup. Release date will probably be announced during Photokina. There's also a 40-150mm f/2.8, coming sooner than the 300mm and the 7-14mm f/2.8 (announced alongside the 300). It's around twice as big as the Panasonic 35-100mm f/2.8, and has a tripod collar too. The difference be...

Hi Brian. As Kojak said I have had this lens a week having ordered it from Jessops on April 7th for my D800. I've just returned from giving it a thorough workout at Bempton cliffs ( RSPB reserve ) photographing gannets etc and the results look amazing on the back of the camera but haven't processed any yet...........

In January of 2014 I purchased my first Tamron lens a 24-70 f2.8 on Amazon. I loved the lens but recently had a mishap when, it dropped from my tripod in its lowest position, 26" and broke off at the lens mount, the 4 phillips screws pulled out of the lens body and severed the electrical ribbon. I was devastated and put the thing back together again, using the 4 screws in the same holes; they s...

The very latest 90mm Tamron has internal focusing, but the price is more akin to the Nikon offering. Personally speaking I'm a Canon man and have various different macro lenses in my armory, though I must admit I do like the way the older Tamron 90mm handles with a really nice large manual focus ring, but I'm very much old school and much prefer using manual focus on my macro lenses. In terms...

The lens arrived today, it looks and feels a more expensive lens. Not had chance to test other than a few shots in my garden, it exudes quality, I will be going to the wildlife park in the morning. Couldn't agree more - I've had mine since it was launched, and have produced some great shots with it. I use it mainly for reportage work, so I can get in close to the people I'm photographing wit...

I have no way to confirm it is broken. Try the lens with VC on and then off with a range of subjects which need a shutter speed in the range of a quarter to 1/125 of a second. The images should be usefully sharper if VC is working.

I'we just sent LCE an email to see if they have one for my Sony - I've wanted a new macro since my Sigma packed up over a year ago and I've been making do with a cheapy Sony one for the time being.

Shortage is right. I've yet to see a single review for the Nikon mount, and was expecting delivery in January. It's quite a delay. Hopefully not much longer, or Tamron might manage to win TIPA two years running for the same lens ;)

I have the 90mm in my bag and use it so much it's about to be sent off for a service! I use it for product photography, portraits and landscapes. It's a great lens with amazing colour saturation and contrast - one of the best I've used. I'm just saving up now for the latest model as it focuses quicker.

Thank you for the replies! I haven't bought anything yet - I might even buy a lens my first day in Singapore :P I'm sorry I took so long to reply, I've had a ton of work to do and after that, I flew to visit some family and I didn't have internet access for a little while. My I ask when will you be here in Hong Kong? Are you doing Singapore first or HK first? if you are doing HK first I co...

If you are using a canon extender, it likely will not work: on cameras like the 60D, AF is reliable at f8 or wider and the Tamron lens is f5.6 at the longest end which means the converter would take it to f9 (or thereabouts). The Canon tc passes this fact to the body which will refuse to AF. If you use a Kenko tc this information is not passed to the body so it will still AF (or try to, though ...

The 18-270 is good but quality seems to be variable - Tamron's quality control seems to be patchy. If you're lucky enough to get a good copy it's great, otherwise... I tried one in my local shop - very unhappy with the results. I ended up with the latest Sigma 18-250mm, very lightweight, small (62mm) filter size and a great walk-around do-it-all lens. I thought the build quality was way better ...

I'd challenge their opinion in writing and demand the lens back with written report saying that I consider taking it to customer protection authorities as an evidence. If you really want to go to the authorities with it - up to you, but I found this type of approach to be effective in many cases.
