My current kit: D90, D40, 18-70mm, 55-300mm, 35mm f1.8.
Usually the 18-55 sits on the D40 (my wife's camera), and the 18-70 sits on the D90 (mine!).
Problem is what do I replace that 18-55 kit lens with? I could get an 18-105 VR for the D90 and move the 18-70 over to the D40? It would be handy having two lenses of similar focal lengths. Or I could even go for an f2.8 zoom on the D90 if I found one cheap enough... Opinions?

So long as you and your wife are friends, I would suggest going for something totally different that you could share. Maybe a nice 105mm macro.
Hadn't thought of that! Thanks.
Follow up: I bought an 18-55 VR so I can use it for stabilised video on the D90.
18-200 great everyday walkabout lens
Unfortunately the 18-200 is about £200 too much!
must be catching my 18-70 died yesterday
Ray, is it the zoom that's stuck?
its totally dead electronically
