I will agree with you there, but if clubs & spectators are prepared to pay those obscene wages you can't blame them for taking the money.

I will agree with you there, but if clubs & spectators are prepared to pay those obscene wages you can't blame them for taking the money.

Spectators have a lifelong and inexplicable devotion to a team, sometimes passed down from grandfather to father to son and is part of a town or city's social fabric so it isnt always a simple spending decision like whether to buy Heinz or Branston. This is exploited by clubs/sky/players when they demand the money from the fans rather than the fans being willing to pay (although inevitably fans are stupid enough to pay, so they deserve it), and we end up in the ridiculous situation where fans demand success, clubs feel they have to buy expensive players to get the results quicker and quicker, and players realise they can demand whatever clubs can pay and often more on the gamble of the club to achieve success (success being cash rewards). Therefore many clubs are now paying more than 100% of their revenue on player wages alone. Players wages were once defended by the fact that it was a free market and they create the wealth that pays the wage but in reality they dont anymore judging by the wage/revenue ratio (if they ever really did). Being a Man City fan I know only too well how obscene and unrealistic some of the spending is and I hate it ... oh and being a sensible fan I decided not to contribute to it anymore. Not a penny !!

Semi agreeing with me!!!!! The geordie dwarf will not be impressed Tongue

I am always impressed by a lady. And look there is no sting in the tail of my comment.Wink I agree wholly with most of the above - money is the ruination of football, especially the Premiership. Every club wants instant success. I am impressed by Lee Clark, at Huddersfield, but rumours abound that Leeds Utd are after him. The Toon had an away win through the week, therefore ecstasy and happiness fill us with joy. But Newcastle being Newcastle, what awaits us in the next game ?
Oh, and getting back to kathrynlouise, seeing as you are on your own, (honest ?) I was thinking of coming down in my Rolls Royce, with a dozen roses and a box of chocolates(latter left over from Christmas), but the car is garaged for the winter, and my pedal bike has a puncture.TongueWinkSmile

    Redknapp cleared.

He was cleared of all charges unanimously - so we should have a decent England manager soon - dont we all have secret off-shore bank accounts in our pet dog's name with hundreds of thousands ££'s in, that is an investment for a 'friend' that we forgot about ??

So was the jury got at by some of his London "facilitator" friends?

    Capello just resigned!
