Quote: Fair result it isn't enough....how are QPR going to offload him now with this 12 game Ban.They should have sacked him straight away and left him to fend for himself preferably in a league as far away from here as possible.
Tom.
You can't sack him, as he would probably get compensation, and then there would be someone waiting to employ him, if not just for the publicity, when he plays well, he is a decent midfielder, and then he gets another signing fee.
QPR deserve all they get for buying him imho. It's not like this was out of character. He has done this stuff in the street away from football. :-/
Just what does a player have to do to be rightfully sacked these days ?? If I worked on a factory or shop floor and went and kicked a customer or workmate then tried to head butt one, all after having elbowed another in the face then I would rightfully be instantly dismissed without notice. If this isnt grounds for instant dismissal I dont know what is ... but having said that, in this crazy industry of football I have no doubts he could sue the club for wrongful dismissal even if he had burned the stadium down, hacked the players into small pieces and sold the silverware (what silverware) on Ebay. I havent got ANY sympathy for QPR though. They knew EXACTLY what they were buying into when they got him and they took a chance that bit them on the backside - no sympathy. I hope I never see him in a UK team again.
Having looked at the replays of the incident with Tevez, what he did was not actually that bad (as far as physical attack goes) and was probably less harmful than many legal tackles. And as for the half-hearted attempts to get one of the opposition to retaliate and join him on the sidelines, was it any worse than you see every weekend in players trying to rile each other?
I am not condoning what Barton did (he is a total self-absorbed ****) but if they were to dismiss him his lawyers could point to so many incidents that people accept as 'part of the game played by men' and compare them with what Barton actually did.
I heard this morning that if they were to pay Barton off, it would cost QPR £10 million. I am sure that will really upset Philosopher Joey.
To be honest the worst incident was the kick from behind. The force could be seen in his face as he kicked out at Aguero. The others were not as bad in terms of causing likely injury as some legal tackles (but they key there is the word 'legal' .. these incidents were not done in a legal or sporting coming together, they were malicious, illegal and one was pretty nasty - his intention was to equal up his red card and undoubtedly bring the whole game into disrepute and down to his level ... added to the fact that they were premeditated and the intent was to cause further incidents of retaliation in order to get others sent off made the whole thing completely on a different level to a legal or indeed illegal singular tackle. I cant agree that what he did was even close to legal tackles when taken as a whole or indeed like most things we see on the pitch. He brought his nasty, malicious, thuggery to the pitch and deserves everything he gets.
It looks like the penalty shoot-out was more exciting than the rest of the game.
I'm just wondering whether Rangers are committing suicide.
For those of you who don't know, Rangers have been placed under a transfer embargo by the SFA as a consequence of all the financial shenanigans that have been going on.
The Administrators have decided to go to the Court of Session in an attempt to overturn this sanction on the grounds that it was not a properly constituted punishment. They may well succeed, BUT:-
UEFA and FIFA have it stated explicitly, in their articles of association, that clubs are forbidden to go to civil courts. So even if Rangers win their case the matter will just be referred back to the SFA. Given the seriousness of the charges against Rangers and because they will have added to their sins by going to the courts, the SFA will have no choice but to impose an even more severe sanction - expulsion from the SPL .
If the SFA refuse to punish Rangers then FIFA and UEFA will have no choice but to ban Scotland and Scottish teams from World and European competition (as happened recently in Switzerland with Sion FC). THE SFA cannot allow this to happen to Scottish football and so I can't see any way out of this for Rangers. An end to the Old Firm, I wonder?
Lets miss out the middle bit and forward fast to when the fans want him out and some even want KK back in the hot seat :o) - come on, you know its gonna happen !!
I saw the headline on Yahoo 'Rodgers is the New Liverpool Manager' while at work, so I went to the Official Liverpool site, and there was no mention of it. :-/ I think Yahoo were a little premature, it now says 'Rodgers to become Liverpool Manager'. ![]()
I didn't think he would consider the job from the comments he was making. 'He was happy and settled in Swansea, and he still had a job unfinished'. Makes you wonder what they have said to change his mind. He doesn't seem the type to change for just cash.
I won't believe he's actually the new manager until it's on the Official Liverpool site btw.
lol
If he is the new manager, it will be interesting to see how ruthless he will be. He needs to clear out a lot of average players, but he also needs the money to replace them. Hopefully he would have been given the assurances that the money is there to spend.
Not sure how I feel about him getting the job. I'm a bit numb to it all. Nobody stood out as 'the one' to me. If he gets Liverpool playing anywhere near as attractive as Swansea, it will be nice to watch at least.
Some interesting names being let go by Premier League clubs.
So Liverpool have a new manager, only the 18th manager in the history of Liverpool. He comes over as a very professional and driven person.
I can't wait to see what he does, the changes he will hopefully make, and the players he will buy,
and sell. ![]()
