And Di Matteo has been given the Chelsea job. Gotta laugh at that word "permanent".

Quote: Redknapp to leave Spurs ...

The England job should have been the pinnacle of his career, but instead, how the speculation seemed to affect Tottenham's form after a great start to the season, looks like it may have cost him his job. :-/

I thought he was close to doing something special at Tottenham, and should have not even considered the England job, because the odds of success with England are more remote than success with Spurs.

It's another one of the weird managerial movements.

Di Matteo has been given two years ad Chel$ki too.

I don't think that word translates properly for Abramovitch. Wink lol

I'm really unconvinced about attributing tottenham's collapse to this ... They are supposedly professional and committed athletes and to think they would suddenly go from top 3 to appalling because of uncertainty with the manager is a possibility but I just don't buy it. His own fans who recently before, worshipped him, quickly questioned his team choice, tactics and inflexibility during matches which does blow the theory of player response to the speculation out of the water ... And if they did respond badly to this then they didn't deserve a place in the top of the prem anyway. Some may also suggest that the spurs players may have also had the added bonus of playing up for their manager in the reasonable knowledge that he would soon be the national boss ... And also needing to play up knowing a new boss may soon be arriving and cutting out dead wood ... I just don't buy it.

The fall in results at Spurs was quite dramatic and is probably as much to do with his court case as it was the speculation about the England job. But the change was so sudden that if mere speculation is enough for the manager to lose grip like that, you have to ask if Harry was actually a better propostion for England manager than Roy. I agree part of it is the players, but to some extent motivating the players is the managers responsibility - anyone who had done any man management at all will know that even the best performers in any industry need to motivated just like anyone else.

Harry really does divide opinion and I think the only club he was ever 'at home' was West Ham.

Not a footie fan but will support England tonight, even turn my laptop off while its on!!! That never happens lol
C'MON ENGLAND. You can do it Grin

Eeeh, kathrynlouise, a woman who is getting interested in football. Beware - my wife hated it until Newcastle, under Kevin Keegan, went up to the top. I think she was lusting after Ginola, and others. She went mad and bought the different strips. She watches football incessantly, now. In fact, she knows more than me.Wink But remember you must use the necessary phrases, ie "it's a game of 2 halves"; football is more important than life and death"; and as the Leeds Utd supporters used to say,[when they were a top team] "ee, by gum, that were brilliant." And you can make up your own sayings, too.Tongue

Best comment you've made in years. Wink Wink

Oh, yes, (in the Zippy fashion) I am full of erudite wisdom when the mood takes me.Smile And the radio, re the England matches, Quote: " The BIG man is back."[Rooney] He is more like a miserable squirt, but I will admit he is good, but nowhere near being a world class player. And last night, Ronaldo "has done a stepover." I bet he wish he could dribble like some of the old ball players.

The British football leagues are awash with foreign players but how many British players can you name that play in foreign leagues?
