I am using a canon 40D and using the converter which came with the camera .When i shoot pictures in raw and edit them they look fine , but when i convert them to a Jpeg or Tiff they seem to loose their sharpness and detail. I cannot work out what i am doing wrong. any help will be useful,
Thanks Nick..
I have not noticed this, two thoughts come to mind. when viewing after processing what zoom in are you using and what program. Some variants of photoshop have difficulty at other than 100% view for sharpness check. alos have you set a custom output size.
Oh and a final thought, what version of DPP do you have, the Canon site has a better version for download than came with my camera.
I've noticed this phenomenon myself, I do use Dpp as a viewer but finalise editing in Pshop. There is a loss even when pasting in a raw file into pshop, as suggested in the other thread its the loss of the tags of in camera sharpening or by software and this will be happening when converting to another format. If anyone doesn't think this is the case then feel free.....but its dinner time for me.
Hello John. I am using photoshop Elements 7. and view in to fit window size. I forgot to say it look unsharpened in windows my pictures also.
Whwn you say the custom output size am i right in thinking output resolutions if so this is set at 350 DPI i have not changed this. and i have never downloaded a update so i better do this.
When i convert to a Tiff or Jpeg then go to Elements and resharpen it look ok so may be i will just have to keep doing this.
