I have two 5d2s and considering buying another body for use as a second body in weddings prob with either a 70-200 or a prime on it most of the time. I am torn between getting another 5D2 before theyre gone or going for the 6D , upside it is supposed to have better ISO but does it in real life in Raw and in wedding environments ie first dance in dark ( will it beat the 5d2 ) on the downside i love the compact flash card and dont like the idea of moving to SD as they just seem so inferior in quality ( had two sds break inc an extreme III )

Any thoughts , based on ISO mainly is it a worthy buy over the 5D2 or not ?

    Cheers

    Andy

The more i read the more convinced I am becoming that the 6D is a cheap camera , with its downgraded body materials , lower shutter life and sd cards I do wonder if it could handle the rigors of full time wedding photography !

And i am finding it hard also to justify the leap in cost to a 5d3 , is anyone else having this problem here on EPZ or is it just me !

I have both a 5D2 and a 5D3 and i don't think that i would go with the 6D just because of the bumping around my cameras get, the 5D's both handle this well. Is the difference in ISO that great?

I dont know you tell me is the difference between your 5d2 and 3 that great as the 6d is supposed to be the same as the 5d3 ? Cheers Smile

I'd say 6D as well as I think it's a lot better, but it does use the same battery for the 5D also

Theres a review online on youtube from What Digital Camera called Canon EOS 6D / Canon 6D Review Video, Demo & Image Quality

You can always check that out if you want some more info or visual review Smile

Sorry, a bit late to the debate Smile

What did you decide on Andy - another 5D mk 2 or the 6D? And was it the right one ?

I am toying with the same problem now

Just on that thought too for any one else in the same dilemna , due to the lesser weather proofing , the sd cards , lesser shutter life , lesser shutter speed and sync speeds and the fact that with the cashback the price difference is literally a few hundred ,AND the fact that CS5 supports the 5d3 files with the camera raw update and doesnt support the 6D. Thats how I ended up with the lovely 5D3 box sat in front of me right now Wink

I am tempted by the 6D. Then I reckoned if I put that money in the pot, then sold my 7D/Grip/17-55 I would have a full frame plus a good wildlife camera. So-o-o-o tempting.

    Hi,

I was in the same boat about a month or two ago. I needed another body to go with my 5DMK2, but couldnt decide if I should get another 5Dmk2 or choose between 7D, 6D or 5DMK3. I wanted to stick with fullframe, so dropped the 7D. The pricing on the 5DMk3 was still pretty high, but as mentioned above the 6D looked alittle cheap compared. Started looking for a MK2. I found the pricing on the Mk2 New wasnt all that low either so decided to make the leap and get the MK3 for HDEW. Only had it 4 days, but happy so far.
