These photos were taken using a Canon G2. Although this camera has only 4 mega pixels it does take a rather good photo. It is also possible to further enhance photos taken on such cameras to achieve a more professional end result.

Using Abobe Photoshop, first clean up any unwanted imperfections using the clone tool. Adjust levels, contrast and colour as you desire. Here's the trick, make two layers, each a duplicate image of your photo. Slightly blur the top layer and set the layer blend to overlay, adjust the opacity and your done!

    Nice!...and welcome to ePZ!

The method might not be to everybodies taste, but I'm game for anything.

It would be interesting to see some of the original photos.
But I'll give this a try and see what I get as a result.

But why blur? With overlay, wont that introduce blur into the final image? I would think simply using Overlay or Multiply without blurring would give better results.

BTW: There is some software out there, I forget th name that will take multiple images and mix in such a way to create higher resolution final image. Similar in a way to how HDR is done, but rather than changing the exposure, you simply take multiple photos. The slight differences between frames are used to enhance resolution.
The demo looks cool, but I don't know how well it works in the real world.

Good point about the original images. I will post links to them here soon. Just need to upload them to my firesnaps account. Smile

Nothing wrong, but you can't load links to external sites in the forum. It's prefered if you load the picture into your portfolio. You can link to your own site though through your portfolio.

Think that's right, but maybe one of the mods could explain better.

But thats where I host my images. I find it much easier to have my images in one place rather than uploading them here, there and everywhere. And why do they allow links in the forum if they don't want you to post links to other websites? I don't get it!

Links to other websites are allowed, but not links to competing sites, i.e. sites that offer similar features to ePz. Links to your own commercial sites are also not allowed.

It's to with the fact that this is a photographic website where the members share photo's through the site. Itmay be easier for you to scatter links around the forum but it's easier for everybody else to view them in the gallery where they'd expect them to be. Forum for discussion, gallery for pictures.

What a pain in the botty! Didn't realize this would turn into a T's & C's debate. It all sounds a bit anal to me.

Getting back to the original subject. I will post links to the original photo's here soon for comparison, if anyone is interested now! I think it should be ok with ePZ because the site where my pictures are hosted is not a competing one. Yeah it's a photo site but the services are completely different. If anything they compliment each other.

If a mod deems my post as a breach of their terms then I'm sure they'll let me know.

    Oooo!

Second day on ePz and he calls us anal!

Not the way to win friends and influence people... ;o)

You could always submit it the the team for inclusion in the Techniques section.

    Doug ;o)

C'mon now that's just stirring. I'm not calling anybody anal. I just think the whole issue of posting a link to a photo hosted elsewhere is a bit silly.

This forum started of well. Can't we just get back to the original subject....please! Smile

    Stuart,

I'm sorry, if you don't like my (jokey) comment.
However, to post a comment about things being anal when you are new to the site is perhaps a little silly.
    First impressions and all that.

The rules are there for a reason.
If you don't agree with them, then direct your comments to the site owners.

There are lots of things in this world that I disagree with, but I have to comply non the less.

Nobody is having a go at you, just trying to steer you in the right direction.

Anyway, I'll say no more on the matter.

    Doug ;o)

Welcome to ePz by the way.

OK, point taken. Just to clear this issue up though...I have just been through the terms and I can see why you guys might be concerned but I don't think I have done anything wrong.

3d. Links to commercial website in which the member has an interest will only be allowed if relevant to the discussion. Where a thread is started on the premise of getting free advertising the thread may be deleted. We respectfully request that members do not ask friends or acquaintances to promote their businesses on their behalf, if we suspect such action is being taken we may consider the option of removing all profiles associated with this practice.

3e. Links to commercial website in which the member has no interest and linking to other information resources are allowed except where there is a legal or moral issue and subject to compliance of other T&Cs.

As my links are relevant to the discussion and they only link to the photo, I think it is ok to post links in this way. Apologies if I have offended anyone. Peace to you all.
