I realise this is an old topic but just wondered if any one recommend a brand? I have been using energizer but they don't hold charge any more. I have some old Uniross ones (must be 6 years old) that still hold their charge but wondered if anyone can recommend cheaper?
How many wonders can I write in one sentence?

I use the duracell's, although I'm interested to see other responses to find out if there's anything better.
I use 7dayshop's own brand for most things.
Never had a problem with them.
Sanyo Eneloop. Not the cheapest, but they don't self-discharge like ordinary NiMh cells.

Have used them in Speedlites and in a D90x Battery pack. At least I know if I have left them in a charged condition, they will still be charged when I require them at a later date.
The only way to go for reliability, Despite a lower mah rating they outperform most other branded items with higher claims.

Another vote for Sanyo Eneloop
Eneloops every time. Best battery in my 30+ years of photography.
Sanyo Eneloop for me too
Sanyo Eneloop, the best.
Yep. Sanyo Eneloop. They are still working after about 6 months in my flash.
Rechargeable Eneloops now ordered - AA and AAA
